There are two distinct ways you can explore a new city – as a wide-eyed tourist or as someone looking for something – a postage stamp missing from your collection, for example.  The first keeps you on well-trodden paths where you can gaze at designated tourist attractions and meet jaded souvenir shop operators, never making a connection with the city because you don’t have a question to ask it.  The second allows you to walk down real streets and alleyways into places hidden from view and to converse with real people, because you are after something – that missing stamp you are looking for can get you beyond its facades and into its treasured secrets.

The art of exploring, in my opinion, usually has some type of objective or destination, however despite the outcome of that particular objective the real story is made during the journey.  This is the Lets Go Exploring blog.
